All Star Game Weekend

The Teams

The Diamondbacks will be split up amongst the teams to fill the rosters. Here’s who are guys are playing with.

Team 1: As + Cardinals + Nick Halkias
Team 2: Rangers + Cubs + Adam Willametz
Team 3: White Sox + Mets + Ryan Ashe & Emma Hinchcliffe
Team 4: Yankees + Giants + Dylan Daniels
Team 5: Red Sox + Orioles

The Schedule

Saturday, June 21

• 9:30 am: Game One: Team 1 vs Team 2
• 11:30 am: Lunch: Home Run Derby / Relay Race / 2nd Base Throws
• 1:30 pm: Game Two: Team 3 vs Team 4
• 3:30 pm: Game Three: Team 5 vs Game 1 Loser

Sunday, June 22

• 11:00 am: Game Four: Game 1 Winner vs Game 2 Winner
• 12:30 pm: Game Five: Team 5 vs Game 2 Loser
• 2:00pm: Game Six: Title Game featuring top two teams with the Best Record/Most Runs Scored

The Rules

1. We will be using minor-league rules
2. Kids will pitch entire game and can strike out kids
3. Walks – TBD (6 balls or NO walks)
4. All Teams will play at least 2 games, with 2 playing 3 (last game)
5. Do best to play kids as equally as possible

More Information

• Seeking concession volunteers – 1 from each team for each game.
• May be getting a cake
• Lunchtime 06/21 is 11:30 to 1:30, including HR Derby / Relay Race / Throws from 2nd base to hit 5 gallon bucket at home plate (top 3 in derby and throws will get packs of baseball cards)

Team Pool Party on Saturday, June 14^th after the game @ the Bednarcyzks

Join us for fun at Brad’s house! Along with swimming, we’ll enjoy pizza, snacks, cake, and drinks to commemorate our great season. Note to families: please give $15 to Laura (our team mom) to cover the cost of the food and the trophies!

All-Star Weekend is June 21 and 22rd

Whether your child is on the field during these games, it’s fun to cheer on our kids in Purple during this wonderful weekend.

The Diamondbacks Meet the Rock Cats Night on Monday, June 23^rd

As a special bonus, Laura Daniels has gotten us some group tickets to see the Rock Cats, including the Diamondbacks taking part of the pre-game festivities as a Dugout Team. Our team (who will be in uniform for one last time) will get a chance to interact with Rock Cat players as they warm up and join them on the field for the National Anthem before returning to the stands to watch the game. This is the last day of school for everyone, so it will be a great night.

To attend, please give $11 for each person, which includes box seat tickets, the pre-game activities, and some food vouchers. The Daniels, the Halkias, and the Hinchcliffes will all be going, so we can carpool / chaperone your kids if you can’t attend.

Farm League All Star Game Scheduled

The Berlin Little League All Star Game has been scheduled for Saturday, June 21 (Sunday 6/22 as the rain date).

Walk in the Memorial Day Parade

The Diamondbacks will be participating in the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26, 2008.

Laura Warner will be getting the team some candy (and some purple bags, too) so we can throw treats to the crowd as we walk the route.

We’ll meet at 8:30am at the St. Paul’s school parking lot (click for map) to be ready to walk at 9am. The parade route ends at the VFW on Masserio Drive. If you haven’t marched in the parade before, it’s not that long and it’s lots of fun.

So get your uniform on and walk with the team! You can leave your cleats and home and wear your sneakers if you wish. All parents are welcome and encouraged to come along as well.

Berlin Summer Baseball Camp

Send your little slugger to camp! All kids aged 7-12 are invited to participate.

Camp: The Berlin Baseball Camp

When: June 30-July 3, 2008 from 9am to 12pm (4 days, Friday is for making up any rainout)

Where: McGee Middle School

Cost: $100 (additional kids in the same family are $90 each)

Camp Highlights:

• Professional, individualized instruction at every position
• Games played daily at each level
• Emphasizes fundamental skills
• Campers kept with their own age bracket
• Players get a camp t-shirt
• Camp Directors: Steve Matyczyk and Mark Centurelli

Official Team Photos Scheduled for Sunday, May 18

Sportography will once again be on hand to take official team photos.The Diamondbacks pictures (team and individual) will be taken at this Sunday @ 12:45pm.

Here are some tips to help make the photo shoot go well:

• Please try to gather at Petit Field by 12:30pm.
• Do not feel obligated to buy photos, but let’s get the entire team in the shot.
• Please try to keep those uniforms clean – skip the colored beverages and don’t let the kids wrestle until we’re done.

If you didn’t get a form, please ask coach for yours!
